FSX Scenery from Google Earth?

Soon.

One of the clever people, "MatthewS", on the new FSDeveloper.com community site is developing a tool that will convert Google's KML files from Google Earth into FSX Scenery.

Matthew has already started to write the manual for the system on our new WIKI and I simply wanted to point this out to you all!   You can discuss the tool on the forum thread he created.

It is also worth noting that others can add to our WIKI, and make it the ultimate manual for FS development.    That includes you Microsoft 🙂

    Hey Nick

Just got FSX a few days ago and really impressed with it apart from a few things.

First I think I’ll have to do a bit of upgrading on my pc. My MSI -KM4M-V with AMD Athlon XP 3000+ Prozessor / CPU (AXDA3000DKV4E) and 1 Gb RAM n RADEON 9600 PRO just doesn’t seem to cut it . Have all the settings on low and plays fine. But really I bought the Sim for all the improvements in the graphics.
Have to admit even on low settings FSX kicks FS2004 ass.

Only thing I noticed and I may be wrong. The Airports, well the 2 local to me Sligo n Knock don’t seem to be as good design as they were in FS2004. Ok the surround landscape if not exactly the way it is, is far better. But the terminals them selves.

The Tower at Sligo is way out. The knock one has just a tower in the wrong place and no buildings. Plus as far as I know theres only one ILS on the approach runway 27. But FSX has one on Runway 09 as well.

Do IFSD intend to so for FSX what they did so well for FS2004. Or will the IFSD version 1.1 work in FSX?

Haven said that I love the guided landing in the missions with auto pilot. Looking forward to loads more flying.

    Regards

    Al

I have been think about that also since the added the simulator mode in Google earth. I even think it would be cool because I don’t think MS and Google get along. I was wondering if the mesh would be the same as Google earth or would it come from FS? Anyway good luck and keep up the good work.
