Thanks Julie! Now the MVP Program is making moves in Ireland.

Today I took a trip down to Microsoft’s European Headquarters in Ireland to meet with Julie Ray who looks after the European MVP’s.   I was expecting a cup of coffee and a meeting with two or three people, what I got was a whole lot more…..

I arrived an hour late due to a couple of new SBS site install issues, and was met at reception with the smiling face of Julie.   A nice welcome.    Then, after a brief introduction I was led down a hallway to an auditorium to which I was informed that 40 – 50 people will be coming down to the session.   I then realised that I was not here to meet a couple of people, but to help Julie with her presentation of the MVP program.   Oh dear 🙂   I should have prepared or something 🙂

Anyway, the session went extremely well, lots of positive questions and answers from the MS staff and I feel that I got our message across along with Julie.    (Not like me to hold back!)

I was one of those to complain a lot about the lack of MVP promotion outside of America.  Therefore I hope that Sean O’Driscoll reads this at some stage.   I am sure he already knows, but he (and the rest of his team) are doing a great job beginning to promote the MVP program outside of America.  Credit where credit is due.  Let it continue!

This evening, I got the following SMS message from Julie (For you Americans that don’t know what SMS is well don’t worry – you are not missing much).   It read as follows:

Hi Nick, thanks for making the trip to MS Ireland!  The rest of the folks I saw today had really positive things to say & appreciated your viewpoints.  You were a hit!

The presentation / Q&A resonated with people & impressed upon them the goodness & amazing potential of working with you & the other MVP’s.  We can expect increased interactions starting in late Jan / early Feb.  Let’s be sure to touch base after the holidays.

Now…   that gave me that “warm and fuzzy” feeling that Susan Bradley often tells me about.

To Julie / Lorna and the people at MS Ireland.   Thanks!   And have a great Christmas!
