I stole this list from a thread on boards.ie
Finally, it looks like more exchanges will be enabled. About bloody time! Mind you, a lot of these were on the list from 2007, so here is hoping that this time Eircom are actually going to do the work! I know that I checked with a local Eircom engineer on the Murroe exchange and the DSLAP had not even been installed yet, let alone the fibre!

Yeah were listed in the Nov-Dec 08 batch, yet Ive spoken to the engineer resp. for the upgrade and Im told its not going to happen until at least Jan. Looks like they are behind – again 🙁
Probably…. Murroe, where I am at, still has nothing done to it, and it was on this years list.
The thing is, I am quite happy with my Wireless provider ongoing, as they can provide me both up and down speeds that I need for our engineers and staff to connect into the servers. They are soon to improve as well I hear.
I would only be using the Eircom BB for the download speeds and personal stuff.
Anyway, I really hope Eircom finally pull this stuff together, we are SO behind in this country it amazes me… how they ever got away with it, I will never know.
Oh, to be the CEO of Eircom for 1 week….
Nick
My current address is in Q2 which may be too late as we’re thinking of moving. Our proposed new location is in Q3 so might be handy if I’m desperate. Eircom has become a last resort for me and thankfully there are other options such as Mobile (my current), wireless and satellite.
I was just talking to the rep again, they have just got an updated list, pretty much the same as above. The sales team are being told that they expect all of this rolled out by November 2009!
I’ll believe it when I see it.
Nick
Is there any where I can check my local area status with respect to this plan?
I have just got off the phone to Eircom yet again to enquire as to when Duagh will be sorted out (Nov/Dec on the list) but as yet, there is still no service and the advisor I spoke to could not give me any further time scale as to when it will be done. All I got was ‘it is Christmas and we are very busy’. So much for good will to all men!
just like pete i was on to eircom about croom we should have broadband by now i was told another (9 months )before we will have broadband
I am getting frustrated (like many others) at the lack of progress by Eircom in sorting these things out. I know the list should not be taken literally, but here in Duagh we ae still waiting.
I spoke to an engineer in the village a while ago and he stated it would be ready by the end of January, but now into Feb, nothing.
I have just contacted Eircom again, but still no joy. I have even checked their own website (http://www.broadbandatoz.ie/), and we are now to be done by the end of 2009!!
Why they publish lists and then not stick to them I don’t know.
Eircom – or EirCON as I think I will now call them are very poor in their customer relations department, and I think that allowing other companies to start up in their place, should now be allowed and remove EirCON’s monopoly on the phone service.
i have been loking around the eircom site for weeks to find when my village is connected which i find very annoying because the eicom site is hard to load in dail up as some of you may know even with firefox its still pain full to find the check my line maybe if there are not providing broadband so fast at least they can build a site that i don’t have all night to find what i am looking for in the meantime all i can do is find tweaks
Agreed, but at least there is a site now.
Also, they had “technical” issues with the http://www.broadbandatoz.ie contact form, but they will now reply to you on that site.
Murroe has been updated to Q4 2009 when I asked….
Cheers,
Nick
Hi,i was just reading some of your comments. If its any help to some of you i will be in Duagh and surrounding areas from tomorrow calling to homes that are part of the National Broadband Scheme who all along could not get Broadband but now can.Hope thats a help to you.
Regards,Caroline.
Just an update for the people in Murroe / Boher / Cappamore / Newport areas…
I worked hard with munsterbroadband.ie to get them to cover the area as ICE were woeful. They are now here and will beat Eircom hands down, even when they do finally get here. (especially on the upload capacity!)
http://www.munsterbroadband.ie/
If anyone from Duagh would like me to call at home to them tomorrow to connect them to wireless broadband which they are gauranteed then i will gladly do so.The provider is 3 and since the rollout of the National Broadband Scheme we have connected over 200,000 homes nationwide at a cost of 19.99 per month. The signal is very strond due to new masts that have been erected.
Regards,Caroline…
