I need a tablet!

In general, I’m a fan of Dell.   I am not a fan of their “home selling” techniques that confuse basic users….   but I am a fan of their business products and Gold Support that they provide my end users.

However, I have one major gripe with them at the moment.    Mr. Michael Dell, where is your tablet pc product!  I know that I would never go back to a laptop after my Fujitsu Siemens “Slate” Tablet PC.   I know of others that would not go back after using a “swivel screen” tablet PC.   The laptop is dead….

Get a move on, it is no longer a niche market!

    Hi Nick,

I’ve had excellent experience with Dell over the years. On my 4th right now, not to mention two that I purchased for girlfriends!

Anyway, perhaps Dell should enter this market, but when it comes to aviation, Motion Computing is the leader, and this is what I will be buying this spring:

They’re no fools, and they even have an optional “view anywhere” display, which makes the unit truly viable for use in cockpits.

Finally, an “affordable” EFB, that will also serve as an additional GPS and a lap top with its detachable key board. For now, it does not get much better than this, at least for GA pilots.

I’ll be getting the 800 model, as it will fit on my yoke. You can even add XM satellite weather to it, and a Blue Tooth Garmin GPS will place your aircraft precisely over the VFR/IFR chart or IFR approach plate. That’s even better than the $10,000 Garmin GPS430 that is already in my Piper Dakota!

Of course, the tablet is just the start, and you need to get the right EFB software for it, and currently Flight Prep is the best out there. Simply amazing stuff.

    Best wishes with FSX! 🙂
