Dell GX620 Rumored to be available for order from tomorrow….. x64 is really here…

I have heard through the grapevine that tomorrow Dell will be releasing in Europe its first desktop x64 machine, the GX260.   I understand that shipping of orders may not commence till mid June however.

As I understand it, the initial launch will have 32bit technology, but in late august 64bit technology.   A fellow MVP Charlie Russel has a good writeup on this new technology here.   Also, Microsoft have done a very cool thing recently with Windows XP x64 as previously reported by Chad Gross, they are giving free X64 upgrades to regular Windows XP users for free here.

All in all, this is good news.   I personally can’t wait for these new PC’s, from a business perspective. Oh, and a gaming perspective 😉  (I wonder out loud if FS10 will take advantage)
